Android Developer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Using good domain knowledge of Android development to solve problems and support the regular daily activities of the Mobile development function
  • Displaying competency with the Android/ Java/ Kotlin programming language, associated toolkits and our product specific API’s to deliver quality solutions and contributing to the success of the team and projects
  • Completing tasks reasonably autonomously, using support from colleagues and leaders as well as seeking external influences to grow awareness of technologies, to ensure you continue to meet best practice standards
  • Conducting fully supported interactions with clients and colleagues to update, feed back and deliver news regarding pieces of work you are involved in
  • Proactively identifying, suggesting and assisting in the delivery of improvements, to ensure the business and team are constantly moving forward and raising the bar
  • Contributing to the technical quality and timely delivery of projects and products; managing the quality of your own work, in order to ensure the best product is delivered

Experience Required:

  • Proven track record of ability to quickly adapt to new and cutting edge technology
  • Degree or above (or equivalent) qualification in Computer Science or a related subject
  • Proficiency in Java programming
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with:
    • Native Android development
    • Version Control (Git)
    • Working in connection with collaborative projects/dynamic teams

Desirable:

  • New software requirements scoping and documentation
  • Experience with JIRA, Bamboo and Stash
  • Knowledge of UX best practices
  • Experience with UNIX / LINUX command line
  • RPC style services (Thrift, REST, etc.)
  • Past experience on collaborative projects
  • Experience with Agile software development techniques
  • JUnit
  • Experience of client interaction
  • Prior experience of developing secure applications
  • Prior experience of developing complex applications
