Junior Innovation Scientist

The Floow is looking for a Junior Innovation Scientist to fit into its Innovation team. This team undertakes investigative and evidential data supply projects concerning large scale  road user behaviours. These projects aim to make mobility fairer, greener and safer offering the potential for both career and skill growth for the right individual.

What you will be doing:

  • Working in a small but experienced team using large-scale data to support a wide selection of mobility related problems and tasks. 
  • Using R to help prepare, process, aggregate and present results for large scale mobility analysis work.
  • Supporting a range of investigative and commercial projects working in mobility challenges for the UK, Europe and beyond.

 

You will have:

  • Track record as a self-motivated problem solver.
  • Degree level education (or equivalent experience) in a STEM subject. 
  • Experience using R and its standard programming packages to analyse data and visualise results.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to work within teams.
  • A passion for using large-scale, real-world data to help others.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of transport, particularly active travel, from experience in the public sector, private sector, or academia. 
  • Experience of other statistical or analytic programming (e.g. Python). 
  • Experience of scripting and use of AWS systems.
  • Experience of GIS systems or handling geospatial data. 
  • Experience using collaborative development tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
  • Experience using project management tools, such as Jira.
  • Ability to represent the company to customers, stakeholders, or to partners working in collaboration.
