Lead iOS Developer

We are looking for a highly experienced iOS Developer to join our Mobile Development Team. Here you’ll be responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of a range of iOS  applications designed by us to meet the requirements of our clients. We have an expanding portfolio of blue-chip, global clients with countless awards to their name. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and driven iOS Developer to join us on our journey.

You will work as a member of one of our Engineering Agile Teams, alongside a Product Owner, while functioning as a lead for our iOS Technology guild, which cuts across multiple Engineering teams.

As a Lead Developer, you will be expected to serve as a source of expertise and mentorship within the organisation, and report on behalf of the guild to Engineering Management. You should expect a 70/30 split between time spent working as an experienced developer, and time spent managing fellow guild members.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with your peers in the Senior Technical Team to ensure the continued improvement, development and success of the Technical Team as a whole
  • Evaluate, promote, maintain and develop the highest technical excellence within your team(s)
  • Create and maintain a culture within the team that promotes and inspires innovation and improvement as part of every day work
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development and execution of the technology department business plan and that of your team.
  • Establish your strategy and recruit/train/lead/succession plan your team(s) to deliver and grow
  • Support and promote The Floow values to ensure a positive and productive culture
  • Coach and Motivate your team
  • Have a good understanding of Agile Practices
  • Have excellent understanding of recruitment and reviews
  • Share best practices with other Engineering Leads
  • Establish good working relationships across the business with Product and Client facing colleagues
  • Use expert domain knowledge of iOS Development to accomplish the activities, identify and solve any problems of the mobile development function
  • Display expertise with the Swift and Objective C programming languages, associated toolkits and our product specific API’s to deliver quality solutions and contribute to the success of the team and projects

 

Job/ Person requirements:

  • Proven track record of ability to quickly adapt to new and cutting edge technology
  • Understanding of SOLID principles and Clean Architecture is highly desirable
  • Degree or above (or equivalent) qualification in Computer Science or a related subject
  • Proficiency in iOS programming in both the Swift and Objective-C Languages
  • Experience with, and willingness to work within hybrid environments (Flutter, React Native) is a bonus
  • You will be comfortable with TDD, and willing to work to refactor existing code for testability
  • You will have an interest in BDD and related technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience supporting and mentoring less senior colleagues
  • Experience with:
    • Native iOS development 
    • Version Control and automated build systems (Git and Jenkins)
    • Working in connection with collaborative projects/dynamic teams
  • New software requirements scoping and documentation
  • Maintainable and extensible code mindset.
  • Experience with JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence.
  • Experience building libraries/frameworks and APIs
  • Experience with UNIX / LINUX command line
  • RPC style services (Thrift, REST, etc.)
  • Experience of a wide range of third party libraries and services.
  • Knowledge of UX best practises
  • Past experience on collaborative projects
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience of client interaction
  • Proven track record of development of complex and secure applications
