Working in the Client Development team at The Floow means it is always an exciting time for me when a client releases a new product to the market. This month, I got to see our long-term client, AIG Ireland, release their new telematics proposition, SmartLane, to the Irish insurance market backed up by a multi-channel campaign that combines social media and TV advertising.

The purpose of SmartLane is to allow drivers to monitor how they drive and it also offers tips to help a driver to improve their scores. As a try-before-you-buy proposition, any driver in Ireland can download and use SmartLane whether or not they are an AIG car insurance customer.

While the team at The Floow have been working hard to produce a proposition which meets the requirements of AIG, including a user friendly interface, our world-class scoring algorithm and in-app driver feedback, the team at AIG have been busy understanding how best to market this proposition and ensure user engagement across what can be a difficult to reach market.

As a result, they came up with the SmartLane Challenge, which aims to encourage drivers to try out the SmartLane app, track their scores and potentially earn a discount on their insurance policy in the process.

In order to qualify for the SmartLane challenge, a driver would need to download the app and drive for at least 1000km over 60 days. You can keep track of your scores across the course of the challenge and when you’ve completed your 1000km in 60 days you could earn up to a 20% discount off AIG Ireland car insurance.

Although, we have created try-before-you-buy propositions before at The Floow, this one is particularly exciting for us as it builds and focuses on engagement with drivers. We know how important it is for insurance companies to ensure customer engagement from the very beginning and throughout the lifespan of an insurance policy which is why we were so keen to work closely with AIG to develop this proposition.

For us, it is all about fulfilling the requirements of our insurance clients and then, it is all about creating engaged customers to keep them onboard and help them to improve their driving making them a better risk for the insurance company and safer drivers which benefits all road users.

To find out more about SmartLane visit AIG’s website and you can view their video with SmartLane in action on YouTube.

Congratulations to the team at AIG who have brought this proposition to market. It’s been a pleasure to work with you on it!
